The San Francisco Bay Area Film Critics Circle

Honoring excellence in film while uplifting the voices of the Bay Area's vibrant film community.

About the SFBAFCC

Founded in 2002, the San Francisco Bay Area Film Critics Circle (SFBAFCC) is a non-profit service organization of film critics, reviewers, writers, authors, and editors working in a variety of media, including print, online, radio, and television. Our primary purpose is to recognize cinematic achievements by gathering to award the top films and filmmakers of each calendar year. In addition, the SFBAFCC promotes and advocates on behalf of its membership and provides moral support to the local film community. Our critics aim to guide local and national audiences to the best in film by offering individual and collective wisdom, as well as by fostering discussion among film professionals and film lovers.

Each year, the SFBAFCC honors exceptional films, filmmakers, and performers through its annual awards. The organization also presents several special distinctions in partnership with local film festivals and in recognition of outstanding contributions to cinema.
